save us from the nfc south

Is there any less relevant division right now in football dare I say both NFL and college than the NFC South? Year over year we have a mediocre division fighting and eating itself alive to get a singular division winner in the playoffs. Now a few years ago you had the Bucs winning it all and as well as a Bucs team beating the Eagles in a wild card game ending Jason Kelce’s career but other than that where is the competition? Where is the excitement? There isn’t any at all!

How do you fix this irrelevance? I say simply reconfigure a few divisions or disband the NFC South altogether. I say simply as if it doesn’t completely blow up the scheduling or playoff bracket but still something needs to be done to fix the current problem. My suggestion of a new division on configuration:

  • NFC South: Bucs, Dolphins, Jaguars, Falcons (I know two teams are still in it)

  • AFC South: Saints, Titans, Texans, Colts

  • AFC East: Patriots, Bills, Jets, Panthers

-or-

  • Remove divisions all together keep the NFC and AFC then take the top 7 teams from each conference for the playoffs

This has been said many times and many ways but good lord yesterday’s 16-14 in a terrible reffed game needs to be addressed. On top of that now we have to watch a terrible Falcons and Saints game to determine if a sub-500 team makes it into the playoffs. Please football gods or Roger Goodell whoever is more powerful increase the NFC South’s cap or reconfigure the divisions!
