return - college football recap
I apologize for the delay is getting these out but my 8-month old is currently getting on teeth in and is driving my wife and I up the wall. They don’t tell you about this shit when you start having kids. We have been blessed thus far with our daughter being such a good baby but right now she is a menace. Any ways college football and its unexpected turn in the semifinals.
Miami 31 - Ole Miss 27
This was a much anticipated game with a sort of high powered offense looking right into the teeth of a nasty Miami defense. Miami showed up in Phoenix ready to just physically take over the game and they did just that bending just enough to keep the win alive. Who would’ve thought the $2,000,000 washed up quarterback with 35+ college games played. Beck did just enough to keep this game close and then took over driving the field when needed. Miami’s last drive wore Ole Miss’s defense DOWN. Ole Miss’s DL is 6’8” 310 lbs caught in a hurry-up offense. I did receive word ahead of the playoffs that there were quite a few players hopping into the portal as soon as they lost most of which heading obviously to LSU. Nonetheless, Ole Miss did what they could to keep this game close but it just wasn’t enough down the stretch with Lacy being hurt early on after a long TD run in the first half. This one of the more dominant teams or defenses we have seen in recent history marching into this title game with momentum on their side. If Bain and an injured Mesidor can hold the line of scrimmage as well as a stead run game on the other side of ball Miami can stay in this game but that’s a big IF.
Indiana 56 - Oregon 22
Indiana continued their dominance that they have shown all year. Literally from the first snap it was Indiana’s game (pick-6 on the first play of the game). It didn’t help that Oregon’s strong loaded backfield was decimated by the transfer portal with three of the backs entering the portal before the game and unavailable. This crazy to say but the final box score was closer than the actual game. This team just wants it more than anyone else. Unfortunately, this breakdown is very to the point because of the type of game it was. I do truly believe that this championship is Indiana's to lose at this point.
Championship Prediction - Indiana 28 - Miami 3
I think the injures sustained by Miami’s defense despite playing at home is not going to be enough to stop that nasty team from up north. Indiana is coming into this game one game away from the best season of all time (in terms of number of wins in a season). I honestly i do not think there is much that Miami can do to win other than play a completely perfect game because Indiana is going to do just that and they have done just that all year long. As I said above this there is a perfect game completed by Miami dominating the defensive line of scrimmage and running the ball down with Fletcher early and often.
